Meeting Agenda

LTP STRATEGY SESSION MARCH 4, 2021

GOALS - PATH FORWARD

  • Take back the US House and Senate
  • Maintain Republican majority in Texas
  • Promote our legislative priorities
  • Find and promote new challengers for public office
  • Fund raising ideas
  • Bring in new members
  • Position LTP to be recognized for endorsing candidates

RULES FOR STRATEGY SESSION

  • Everyone contribute something (1-minute each)
  • No private conversations
  • Two people to take notes (one for 1st, 3rd, 5th speaker, second for 2nd, 4th, 6th speaker, etc.)

SUMMERIZE SESSION

  • At the end of session if possible or by e-mail within a week

  1. Promote our legislative priorities. This is why we’re in business. In order to do that, we should first concentrate on focusing our efforts and resources toward things we can actually accomplish, and on things we must accomplish in the short term.
    1. Maintain Republican majority in Texas. To this end, we will obviously be in concert with the Republican Party. During the next 2 years, we need to make an effort to not promote conflict between LTP and Republicans.
    2. Second: take back the House. I think this is doable. The Democrat margin is very thin. We should move forward in a way that serves notice that we’re coming for them. If we’re noisy enough, we might possibly make enough Democrats nervous in the interim to keep them from moving all their radical notions forward.
      1. Begin to identify specific seats that we can target.
    3. Third: take back the Senate. If an opening presents itself, we should seize any opportunity; however, I think it will be more difficult than the House.
      1. Begin to identify seats that we can target.
  2. Find and promote new challengers for public office. Long term, this is absolutely crucial. Our elected representatives at all levels are not nearly aggressive enough in promoting limited government solutions, etc. For now, we need to be selective here (choose our fights). We most likely will need new blood to move ahead with 1b. and 1c. above. When we have a sound majority in either House of Senate (two years away), we move ahead with efforts to primary selected seats.

Fund raising ideas, Bringing in new members, and Positioning LTP to be recognized for endorsing candidates must be ongoing efforts and will be a necessary part of each priority listed above. These must be continuing efforts, and don’t necessarily present a conflict with the items prioritized above.

Since 1993

Who We Are:

The Llano Tea Party is a grassroots group of ordinary American citizens from Llano County, Texas. Our goal is to restore government “of the people, by the people and for the people’ at the federal, state and local levels.

  • We are peaceful, patriotic and polite individuals who will be silent no more
  • We are outraged that our Congress is spending our future generations hopelessly into debt while we face job losses and financial hardships
  • We see America spiraling into socialism and we “pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor” that this must not (Excerpts from The Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776.)
  • We are not a political party; we are non-partisan. If you agree with who we are, our mission and our core beliefs, you are welcome
